Shannon Matchett is a Criminal Lawyer with extensive experience across Local, District, and Supreme Courts. He holds a Bachelor of Criminology, a Bachelor of Laws, and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the University of New England. Shannon’s academic background includes a focus on regional, rural, and remote crime, with particular attention to the intersection of domestic and family violence. Before joining Pennicott Weir Lawyers, Shannon worked as a Public Prosecutor with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. This experience has provided him with valuable insights into criminal proceedings from both prosecution and defence perspectives, enabling him to effectively assess the strengths and weaknesses of cases. Throughout his career, Shannon has represented clients in numerous appeals against convictions and sentences across the Riverina region. He has handled a wide range of matters, including drug-related offences, violence, theft, burglary, fraud, sexual assault, murder, and driving offences such as death by dangerous driving. Shannon approaches each case with a commitment to understanding the individual circumstances of his clients.
