Patti Chong

Patti Chong, Principal of Patti Chong Lawyer, is an esteemed legal professional based in Australia. Originally from Malaysia, she moved to Australia to pursue her law degree at the University of Western Australia, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws in 1980. She was admitted to practise the following year, marking the beginning of a distinguished legal career. Her initial experience was shaped during her Articles and Restricted Practice at the Legal Aid Commission of Western Australia. In 1983, Patti joined the Australian Government Solicitor’s Office as a Principal Legal Officer, where she provided legal advice and represented the Commonwealth in various proceedings. Her role there offered her foundational courtroom experiences as a junior counsel. Patti's career advanced significantly when she became a State Prosecutor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Western Australia. Over a period of 14 years, she played a vital role in numerous trials, contributing to key state prosecutions. Patti's expertise led to her appointment as the inaugural General Counsel for the Corruption and Crime Commission in 2004, a position that recognised her substantial capabilities in legal counsel. In 2006, Patti founded her own practice, Patti Chong Lawyer, where she continues to provide thoughtful and comprehensive legal services across diverse areas. She fosters talent and growth within her team, currently working alongside junior lawyers Sabrina Tan and Alexander Turner.
