About Dean
Michael Clements joined Harris Carlson Lawyers in 2009 and was appointed as a Director in 2012. He leads the firm’s Property team, drawing on extensive experience gained during his articles and subsequent practice as a solicitor in regional Victoria. Michael’s work encompasses a broad spectrum of commercial legal matters, with a particular emphasis on business advisory and property transactions. He also advises clients on personal and business structuring, succession planning, as well as wills and estates. Michael acts for a diverse range of long-standing corporate and individual clients across multiple industries, providing well-considered and commercially balanced legal advice. His approach is grounded in a clear understanding of clients’ objectives, helping to facilitate successful commercial outcomes. Beyond his legal practice, Michael has contributed to the wider industry through three consecutive terms on the Board of The Real Estate Institute of Victoria, including serving as an Additional Director between 2019 and 2022. Michael began his articles at Watson & McLeod Lawyers in Mildura, Victoria in 2006 and practiced as a solicitor in both Victoria and New South Wales before returning to Melbourne to join Harris Carlson Lawyers. Since becoming a Director, he has played a key role in the firm’s development while maintaining a well-established client base across diverse industry sectors. His areas of experience in commercial and property law include the sale and acquisition of land, retail and commercial leasing and licensing, adverse possession claims, mortgages, charges and guarantees, subdivisions and land development, planning and building disputes, Owners Corporations matters, as well as the sale and acquisition of businesses and assets. Michael also advises on business structuring, contract review, shareholder and director-related matters, contract disputes, employment law, succession planning, wills, estates and powers of attorney. Known for providing practical, commercially focused advice, Michael brings a strong client-centred approach to his work. He holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees from Deakin University and is admitted to practice in Victoria.
