Carl Edison

John Gallagher holds a Master of Laws and has been practising since his graduation from Melbourne University in 1966. With extensive experience in Wills, Estate Planning and Estate Litigation, John provides comprehensive legal services including drafting wills, advising on asset structuring, establishing trusts for children, and ensuring dependants are protected from liabilities. John has developed a significant focus on the legal needs of older clients, particularly regarding Powers of Attorney and issues related to Incapacity and Decision Making. His knowledge is further enhanced by his background in veterans’ affairs and government decision reviews. Before joining Gall Standfield & Smith, John served for 12 years as a member of the Veteran’s Review Board and for 9 years on the Guardianship & Administration Tribunal, including two years with the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT). He also has experience working in a Victorian legal practice. John is actively involved in community and professional organisations, serving as a legal member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal and holding leadership roles in local associations such as the Eagle Heights Village Association and the Tamborine Mountain Progress Association. Committed to supporting clients who face legal challenges, John finds great reward in helping them achieve positive outcomes. Outside of work, he enjoys playing tennis and walking, often accompanied by his dogs. If not practising law, John would spend his time travelling the world.
