Matt Wertheimer

Matt Wertheimer is the principal of Wertheimer Law and brings over ten years of experience advising some of Australia's leading real estate entities. Throughout his career, Matt has worked extensively across all facets of real estate transactions, with a particular emphasis on development projects, commercial leasing, and commercial dealings. Matt enjoys partnering with entrepreneurial clients to help them realise their business objectives by providing precise, timely, and practical legal advice. He combines the thoroughness and expertise typical of large firms with the personalised attention found in smaller practices. Matt values building strong client relationships founded on trust, integrity, and bespoke service delivery. He is admitted as a solicitor of both the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia and is a member of the Queensland Law Society. Matt holds a Juris Doctor (Honours) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Bond University, a Bachelor of Business from The University of Tasmania, and a Master of Communications from Deakin University. In 2025, Matt was recognised in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Australia™ for Real Estate Law, an international peer-reviewed accolade. Prior to establishing Wertheimer Law, Matt developed his expertise within the real estate team of one of the world’s top 20 international law firms. Among his notable career achievements, he has acted on the divestment of major hotel portfolios and one of the country’s largest hospitality collections, facilitated the acquisition of a supermarket portfolio valued at approximately $1 billion, and contributed to the acquisition, development, and leasing of landmark buildings, including the world’s largest hybrid timber and steel structure. He has also been involved in the development and leasing of cutting-edge technology and health precincts, iconic commercial and retail buildings, as well as residential strata towers and land developments for private clients.
