Rich Stanley

Rich Stanley is a Co-Founder and Partner at Stanley & Co Lawyers, bringing nearly two decades of broad legal experience gained across the United Kingdom and Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice, is a qualified legal practitioner in the UK, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). Rich’s practice encompasses a significant breadth of criminal and commercial law matters. In criminal law, Rich has been engaged in a variety of complex proceedings, including major indictable trials in both the District and Supreme Courts. His work extends to bail applications, reviewing detailed case briefs, and providing strategic legal advice. He has represented clients in appeals to the District, Supreme, and High Courts of Australia, and handled Commonwealth prosecutions, along with disciplinary and regulatory matters. Rich’s criminal law experience also includes defending intervention order applications and assisting clients with applications to revoke or resist revocation of such orders. Rich's commercial law experience is extensive, covering negotiation and drafting of a wide range of agreements such as shareholders, partnership, unit holder, independent contractor, and employment contracts. He provides advice on vendor finance arrangements, secured and unsecured loans, guarantees, indemnities, and security agreements. His commercial work includes business sale and purchase transactions, intellectual property matters, franchising, competition and consumer law, commercial leasing, and insolvency-related proceedings. He regularly advises on corporate governance and compliance with the Corporations Act 2001, and appears in all South Australian courts and the Federal Court of Australia. Beyond his legal practice, Rich contributes to the community as a board member of OARS Community Transitions, an organisation dedicated to reducing offending and victimisation to improve community wellbeing. He is a member of both the Law Society of South Australia and the Law Society of England and Wales. Rich’s professional contributions and leadership have been recognised through awards such as the 2025 Partner of the Year for Criminal Partner of the Year and his rankings in the BDO Fast Movers Awards in 2021 and 2022.
