Michael Pont

Michael established Eastview Legal in early 2023, drawing on extensive experience gained at a prominent regional law firm where he practised across criminal law, corporate and business law, family law, and wills and estates. His legal career built upon over 30 years of professional background in criminal investigations, corporate management, consulting, and forensic accounting within both government and private sectors. During his 15 years with the NSW Police Force, Michael developed a strong focus on fraud and investigative work. He served a decade as a senior detective specialising in fraud investigations, including two years with the Fraud Squad, which laid the foundation for his subsequent legal interests. Following his police service, Michael expanded his expertise across diverse industries such as real estate, mining, forestry, ports, and insurance. His professional experience spans multiple countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. He contributed to fraud prevention efforts at NIB Health Funds, where he managed investigations into fraudulent claims, designed fraud risk management plans, delivered fraud awareness training, and collaborated with law enforcement and regulatory agencies. Michael also held roles at the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) in risk management, auditing, and fraud investigation. Before founding Eastview Legal, Michael served as Managing Director for a US-based risk management consultancy operating in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific. In this role, he provided services such as due diligence, forensic accounting, corporate investigations, security consulting, and crisis management to major corporations, including Fortune 500 insurers. Michael’s multifaceted background equips him to offer comprehensive legal services informed by practical investigative and risk management experience.
